Maine high court hears appeals on the road

DRESDEN, Maine — Maine’s highest court is taking to the road this week as it hears oral arguments in a number of cases being appealed.

The Maine Supreme Judicial Court is holding court Wednesday at the Pownalborough Courthouse in Dresden, the only remaining pre-Revolutionary War court building in Maine. The building is on the National Register of Historic Places and serves as a tourist attraction.

Supreme court justices heard oral arguments Tuesday at Deering High School in Portland. They will be at Richmond High School on Thursday and Lisbon High School on Friday.

This is the sixth year that the court has held oral arguments at Maine high schools to give students a chance to hear cases.
