BANGOR — The Advertising Specialists of Maine owners Daniel Tandy and Stefani Berkey celebrated the company’s fifth, 10th, and 20th anniversaries with parties. “For our 25th anniversary in business, we wanted to do something different,” Stefani says, “something that would give back to the community that has given so much to us.” After much thought, they developed an innovative program which would benefit pediatric services at The Acadia Hospital and Eastern Maine Medical Center, while involving their clients, vendors, and members of the community.

Berkey, Tandy and TASOM staff began their official celebration at a reception at The Acadia Hospital, on Sept. 27, where their donations to Acadia’s “Backpack Program” were on display. To date, TASOM and its vendors have donated items valued at more than $7,000 for the program, which provides backpacks and school supplies to children and adolescents who are returning to school after being hospitalized. More than 600 youth are treated each year in Acadia’s partial hospitalization and inpatient programs.

Members of the community who want to contribute to TASOM’s efforts to support children at The Acadia Hospital and Eastern Maine Medical Center can visit the website at www.tasom.com
