BELFAST — Belfast Maskers, despite the loss of its longtime railroad theater venue, will stage Alan Bennett’s series of monologues, “Talking Heads (Series II),” at 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 13-15, and Oct. 20-2,2 and 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23, at the First Church Parish Hall, Spring Street, Belfast.
The Maskers production will feature five dramatic pieces that were written for BBC Television in England. Although the plays deal with a variety of subjects, there are certain recurring themes, such as death, illness, guilt and isolation.
In “Soldiering On,” Judi Erickson will play Muriel, a powerful woman and pillar of her community. After the death of her husband, she is able to cope with the crisis, but she learns that strength might not be enough.
Charlotte Herbold will play an unscrupulous antique dealer in “Hand of God.”
In “The Outside Dog,” the very domestic life of housewife Marjory, played by Dorothy Wilson, begins to crumble as the truth about her brutish husband is revealed.
“Her Big Chance” will feature Marty Kelly as an aspiring actress who may have gotten her big break.
And, Irene Dennis will portray Miss Fozzard in “Miss Fozzard Finds Her Feet.”
Tickets for Thursday performances are $8. Tickets for other performances are $15, $10 teens. The material is not recommended for children. Tickets are available at the church, one hour before shows, by calling the box office at 338-9668, or at Yo Mamma’s Home, 96 Main St.
