SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine — A local convenience store was robbed for the second time in less than a week early Friday morning when a man armed with a knife showed up and demanded money, according to police.

Harold Adams, 44, was arrested and charged with robbery of the Big Apple store on Western Avenue.

The Portland Press Herald reports Adams demanded cash from the register and a safe, and fled empty-handed after a struggle with a clerk.

Adams is being held at the Cumberland County Jail on $100,000 cash bail. He faces up to 40 years in prison if convicted of the Class A crime of robbery.
