PORTLAND, Maine — Food trucks could be coming to the streets of Portland, Maine.
The Board of Directors of The Creative Portland Corp. voted 6-1 in favor of allowing food trucks in the city. The recommendation will now go to the City Council’s Health and Recreation Committee.
If that committee approves the idea, a draft ordinance will be sent to the City Council.
Food trucks are basically well-equipped kitchens on wheels.
The city already allows smaller food carts. Food trucks frequently have full-size refrigerators, freezers, grills and stoves, so they can produce more types of food than food carts.
The Portland Press Herald says Creative Portland is a group that works to enhance the city’s creative economy.
