ROCKLAND, Maine — A man accused of robbing Camden’s Rite Aid was one of 27 people indicted by the Knox County grand jury Wednesday evening.
Sean Higgins, 29, of Camden was indicted for robbery, stealing drugs and violation of condition of release.
On Aug. 2, Higgins walked into Rite Aid on Route 1 and handed pharmacists a note demanding drugs, according to a police report filed in Knox County Superior Court. Higgins implied “he was holding a pistol inside his right hand under his sweatshirt,” the report states.
Police took Higgins’ picture from the Rite Aid surveillance video tape and it was published in local newspapers. A Knox County Jail staffer called the police on Aug. 4 to say he recognized Higgins from those images.
Higgins was on his way south when he was arrested on Aug. 6 in Norwich, Conn., after police there said he was behaving suspiciously on the street. When an officer questioned Higgins, he reportedly gave evasive answers and then took off on foot. After catching Higgins, Connecticut police discovered that he was wanted in Maine for the alleged robbery.
Higgins is now at Knox County Jail.
