BANGOR, Maine — Police responding to a noise complaint at 64 Ohio St. Wednesday night found a couple inside with blood on them and called the department’s Criminal Investigation Division to determine why, Bangor Police Sgt. Paul Edwards said Thursday morning.

“There was a fair amount of blood inside the apartment,” Edwards said. “We’re not sure [why]. That’s why they’re investigating.”

The man, who turned 52 on Wednesday, and the female, age 49, were taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center with “various injuries,” Edwards said, adding that the woman may have been convulsing when Bangor Fire Department emergency medical personnel removed her.

Criminal Investigation Division members were called to the apartment building, located at the corner of Ohio and Hudson streets, shortly after 7:15 p.m. to go through the apartment the couple share.

Whether illegal drugs were involved is part of the ongoing investigation, Edwards said.

“There seemed to be an indication of something,” the sergeant said.

The condition of the two Bangor residents was not available Thursday morning.
