NEWMARKET, N.H. (AP) — Residents of a Newmarket senior housing complex say bedbugs continue to be a problem nearly six months after they were first reported.

Bedbugs were reported ate Newmarket House in May, and residents said the property manager has been responsive, but the problem has persisted.

Residents tell WMUR-TV that Eastpoint Properties has been working with exterminators, but as recently as Monday, live bedbugs were found in a trap in the building.

The town health inspector said there were no indications of any live bedbugs in the building for a two-week period before the bugs were found Monday.

The problem is affecting the social scene in the 27-unit building. Building managers have encouraged residents not to visit other apartments, and community activities, including card games and birthday gatherings, have been suspended.
