Barry lifts UMaine-Farmington to overtime victory

FARMINGTON — Lily Barry scored off a cross from Samantha Webster with 4:19 left in overtime Wednesday, lifting the University of Maine-Farmington to a 1-0 North Atlantic Conference field hockey victory over Thomas College.

Curran Brierley made four saves for UMaine-Farmington (5-4, 4-1 NAC).

Sofia Sourgiadakis made eight saves for Thomas College of Waterville (4-8, 2-3 NAC).

Plymouth State 4, USM 1

At Plymouth, N.H., Lauren Carroll and Nikki Garvey scored three minutes apart in the first half to send the Panthers on their way to victory.

Jackie Morin and Erin Morris tallied one goal each for 9-1 Plymouth State. Lauren Bergeron, Christina Parisi and Olivia Colborn provided assists and Hilary Lemelin made two saves on three shots.

Rachel Trafton scored an unassisted goal for 6-7 Southern Maine of Gorham. Kayla Kennedy made 10 saves on 18 shots.

Bowdoin 5, Bates 0

At Lewiston, Ella Curren scored two of her three goals in the first half to power the second-ranked Polar Bears to victory.

Elizabeth Clegg and Katie Herter scored a goal each for 7-0 Bowdoin College of Brunswick. Clegg notched two assists, while Kassey Matoin, Cathleen Smith and Katie Riley added one apiece. Kayla Lessard made one save on four shots.

Becca Otley made 13 saves on 46 shots for Bates (2-6).

Men’s soccer

Thomas 2, Southern Maine 0

At Gorham, Khamisi Lightbourne scored on a Matt Ford assist 23:23 into the first half, providing the Terriers with the only goal they would need.

Dakota Duplisse scored a second-half goal off a Mattias Schyberg assist for 5-4 Thomas College of Waterville. Mikkail Crockwell made four saves on seven shots.

Jeremy Turner and Alex Charette combined to make two saves on seven shots for 2-9 University of Southern Maine.

Women’s soccer

Saint Joseph’s 2, Husson 1

At Standish, Amanda Sebastiao scored her second unassisted goal of the contest 3 1/2 minutes into the second half to provide the eventual margin of victory.

Sebastiao also scored 30:39 into the first half for Saint Joseph’s (7-2, 4-0 North Atlantic Conference). Meaghan Johnson made six saves on seven shots for the Monks.

Mariah Arno scored unassisted for Husson University of Bangor (7-3, 3-2 NAC). Kristen Capen made nine saves on 11 shots.

Bates 4, Southern Maine 0

At Lewiston, Dakota Donovan and Courtney Talbott scored two goals each to power the Bobcats to victory over the Huskies.

Tina Tobin, Nicki Brill and Kara Stefaniak contributed assists for 2-3-2 Bates. Annie Burns made four saves on 13 shots.

Kat Rothe racked up 21 saves and faced 44 shots for the University of Southern Maine of Gorham (2-9).
