SOUTH BRISTOL, Maine — Deputies from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office are on the hunt for a man they believe bilked a 99-year-old man out of $2,700 for tree work that wasn’t performed.
According to the Morning Sentinel, the victim told authorities that three young men came to his South Bristol house and said they were working for the state nearby and offered to cut down six trees. They cut two branches and gave the elderly man a bill for $2,700.
His caregiver contacted the sheriff’s office a day later.
One of the suspects had his picture taken while cashing the check in Damariscotta on Sept. 22, and police are seeking his identity.
Anyone with information on the case should contact Detective Robert McFetridge at 882-7332.
