FRANCIS ‘FRANK’ P. JULIAN

LEWISTON – Francis "Frank" P. Julian, 80, formerly of Bangor, died unexpectedly Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011, at Central Maine Medical Center with his family by his side. He was born June 10, 1931, in Bangor, the son of Peter and Margaret (O’Keefe) Julian.

He attended Bangor schools and was a graduate of John Bapst High School, where he played football during their undefeated season and winning the State Championship in 1948. In the early 1960s, Frank owned and operated the famous Pizza Roma, Main Street, Bangor. He then became a novelty salesman throughout Maine. He never retired and worked with his family and their endeavors up until the time of his death.

Survivors include four sons, Michael Julian and wife, Carolyn, of Old Town, Frank J. Julian of Lewiston, Peter M. Julian and wife, Kimberly, of Lewiston and John F. Julian and companion, Tina Rose, of Greene; five daughters, Brenda Smith and husband, Thomas, of Holden, Nancy Gross and husband, Arnold, of Old Town, Maina Fernald and husband, Bob, of Bangor, Susan Gildart and husband, Michael, of Bangor and Melinda Novella and husband, Jay, of Auburn; and two sisters, Terry Deveau and Ann Julian, both of Connecticut. Also surviving are 20 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by the mothers of his children, Elaine Stewart and Kathryn Smith; one son, James Julian; two sisters, Maina Julian and Mary Hersey; as well as two brothers, James and Joseph Julian.

Family and friends are invited to visit 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Pinette & Lynch Funeral Home, 305 Alfred Plourde Parkway, Lewiston, where funeral services honoring Frank’s life will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5. Burial will be held later at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Old Town. Memorial donations in Frank’s memory may be made to American Diabetes Association, P.O.
