Brewer man accused of carrying weapon in fanny pack

By Dawn Gagnon, BDN Staff

BANGOR, Maine — Local police who were asked to be on the lookout for a man who possibly was armed found him about noon Thursday and charged him with carrying a concealed weapon.

Craig Pelkey, 43, of Brewer was riding his bicycle on Broadway when he was found, Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said Thursday evening, citing a police report.

“We were told he may have a weapon on his person,” Edwards said.

The concealed weapons charge stems from a collapsible baton that was found in Pelkey’s fanny pack, he said.
