Rockport, Maine – Sue Barter was named Pen Bay Healthcare Employee of the Year for 2011 at a gathering of employees at Pen Bay Medical Center on Sept. 15 to celebrate Employee Appreciation Week. Roy Hitchings, president and CEO of Pen Bay Healthcare, presented Barter with a plaque and a check for $1,000.

Barter is a medical assistant at Pen Bay Internal Medicine, located in the Physicians Building on the Pen Bay campus. One of her colleagues described her as “a beacon of light and an excellent example to our co-workers,” and added that she “brings her A-game to work each and every day, and others can look to her to see how commitment and dedication make every work day a positive experience.”

The Employee of the Year is chosen from among the year’s Employees of the Month, who were also honored at the celebration for their service, as were employees who have worked at Pen Bay Healthcare for 25 years or more. The names of those “25-Year Club” members were entered into a drawing, and ten happy employees won a week of paid time off.
