BANGOR, Maine — Nichole Rackliff, an Ellsworth native and student at Eastern Maine Community College, has been awarded a George J. Mitchell Scholarship to study in Ireland.

The scholarship covers tuition, books and fees for students as well as about $900 per semester for living expenses.

Rackliff, whose major is business studies at EMCC, will study agriculture and business management for a semester at the University College Cork of the National University of Ireland located on the country’s south coast.

Rackliff hopes to some day join Veterinarians Without Borders, an animal aid group. She stated in her application essay, “Studying abroad will give me experience in another culture that will prepare me for the many different cultures I will work with while volunteering with Veterinarians Without Borders.”

For more information on the scholarship, contact Dorry French, coordinator of George J. Mitchell Scholarship Exchange, at 767-5210 ext. 4117 or email at dfrench@ccd.me.edu.
