JONESPORT, Maine — A local man was arrested Tuesday and charged with a string of burglaries at Jonesport businesses.
Washington County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Ryan Perry and Deputy Brandon Parker responded early Tuesday to a report of a burglary at the T.A. King and Sons Building Supply.
The deputies recovered some evidence at the scene and while speaking to people in the community were able to link that evidence to Franklin Perry, 30, according to a statement released by the sheriff’s office. The deputies were also then able to connect Perry to similar burglaries at the Moosebec Variety Store and Stewart’s Grocery, the statement said.
Reported taken in the three burglaries were $700, alcohol, cigarettes, a laptop computer, scratch-off lottery tickets and a small number of hand tools.
Deputies seeking Perry were in Stewart’s Grocery giving the clerks and owners a description of the man when Perry walked into the store. The deputies brought Perry outside and interviewed him. Perry had some of the stolen property on his person and he admitted to the break-ins, according to the sheriff’s office.
Sgt. Perry and Deputy Parker were able to retrieve some of the stolen property.
Perry was arrested, taken to the Washington County Jail and charged with three counts of burglary. He remained in jail Wednesday, held on $5,000 cash bail.
