Businesses turn out for social media talks

Some 400 marketers, business owners and other professionals turned out for the third annual Social Media For The Win conference last Thursday in Portland.

What they wanted to learn was how best to leverage social media phenomena such as Facebook and Twitter to their companies’ advantage, wrote Bangor Daily News reporter Matt Wickenheiser.

Mike Volpe, chief marketing officer for software company HubSpot, got everyone’s attention when he talked about a blog post that recently generated 70 new sales leads for his company — even though it has been four years since he posted it.
