GARDINER, Maine — A Randolph man was arrested Saturday night and is facing charges after allegedly knocking a woman to the ground and kicking her repeatedly before taking off with her purse.
Police quickly tracked down and arrested Aaron P. Young, 31, and charged him with robbery, according to the Kennebec Journal.
Young remains in the Kennebec County Jail Tuesday in lieu of $10,000 cash bail.
Police told the KJ that Jana Bechard, 27, of Randolph was coming from the Cumberland Farms on Bridge Street in Gardiner and was heading across the bridge to Randolph shortly after 8:30 p.m. Saturday when the attack unfolded.
After fleeing with the woman’s purse, Young allegedly fled down an embankment toward the Kennebec River rail trail. When police were unable to locate the man, a K-9 unit from Topsham was brought in to track the suspect.
Young was found quickly and taken into custody without incident.
