UMaine-Machias sweeps soccer doubleheader from UMaine-Augusta


MACHIAS — Ruud Casseus scored four goals during a span of 7 minutes, 39 seconds in the second half Monday afternoon to help the University of Maine-Machias complete an 11-0 men’s soccer route of UMaine-Augusta.

In the women’s game, UM-Machias shut out the Moose 8-0.

Stefan Zaluckey scored two goals and set up two for the University of Maine-Machias, while Franck Zeba tallied two goals. Kris Wignes, Tyler Pelletier and Devin Whitbeck added a goal apiece.

Pelletier. Craig Kelly and Evan Favreau chipped in with assists. Corey Hodgkins and Luis Herrera did not face any shots.

Chris White made 11 saves on 41 saves for UMaine-Augusta.

In the women’s contest, Jenny Guzman scored two goals and assisted on two more, sparking the Clippers to victory.

Jes Rubin, Erin O’Connor, Kylynn Adams, Nikki Bennett, Joslyn Corey, Stephanie Wunderley and Kathryn Lewis contributed one goal apiece for the University of Maine-Machias. Corey, Brittany Shutlz and Kim Pratt posted assists.

Rebecca Young made four saves on six shots.

Danielle White grabbed 12 saves on 37 shots for UMaine-Augusta.
