Monroe man tracked by police K-9, charged with OUI

HAMPDEN, Maine — A Monroe man whose car skidded off Western Avenue early Saturday took off running through the woods when police arrived and was later found by a tracking dog, Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said in a press release on Monday.

Hampden police Officer Marc Egan stopped to check on Travis Lane, 31, at around 1:15 a.m. and after he bolted into the woods called in the assistance of Bangor police Officer Mike Jewett and his K-9, Rex.

“Officer Jewett and Rex tracked the suspect through at times very wet and rough terrain for about one quarter mile and eventually apprehended him lying on the ground,” Edwards said.

Egan arrested Lane for operating under the influence and for violating his bail conditions.
