LINNEUS – Wilbur Edwin Suitter, 76, died Sept. 22, 2011, at his home. He was born July 19, 1935, in Linneus, the son of Henry and Nettie (Hatfield) Suitter.

Wilbur worked in the woods cutting pulp, then as a truck driver for 10 years before he went to work at Hogan Tire, where he worked for 19 years before he retired.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Stella (Spencer) Suitter of Linneus; his children, Donald and Donna Suitter of New Hampshire, Louise Suitter of North Carolina, Shirley Alexander of Linneus, Janet Suitter and Dan Chambers of New Hampshire, Robert and Sharon Suitter of Danforth, Brenda Suitter of New Hampshire, and Ritchie and Gail Suitter of Linneus; his special grandchildren, Brad, Brandon and Joshua Suitter of Linneus; 25 additional grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Ernie Suitter of Houlton, Elsie and Lyle Seavey, and Ruby and Harold Moore, all of Newport, Marion and Bert Johnson of Willington, Conn., Betty Jones of Taunton, Mass., Dell and Virginia Suitter of Wisconsin, Helen Cole of Springfield, "Little" Evelyn Suitter of Houlton and Henry Suitter; also several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; a daughter, Sandra Jean; a brother, Leland; and one sister, Viola.

Graveside funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Linneus Cemetery with the Rev. Bruce McEwen officiating. For an online register book and to leave condolences, please visit
