GLENBURN – Beverly S. Young, 64, died peacefully Sept. 21, 2011, at home after a short, courageous battle with cancer. Bev was born May 24, 1947, in Fort Fairfield, son of Emmiless and Gladys (Jenkins) Young.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and worked in construction for most of his life. He retired in July 2011, after 27 years with Hughes Bros., Inc., Hampden, where he was crusher operator and supervisor of the gravel pit. Bev enjoyed hunting, fishing, four-wheeling, riding his motorcycle, and spending time with his family and friends.
Bev is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Loraine Young; and six sons, Rick of Cambridge, Mass., Michael of Amesbury, Mass., Kevin and his wife, Jodi, of Presque Isle, Scott and his wife, Marci, of Presque Isle, David and his wife, Donna Green, of Angier, N.C., and Christopher Green of Bangor. His pride and joy were his grandchildren, Gage, Mason, Wyatt and Marion Young, and Kaitlyn and Connor Green. Also surviving are his brother, Roger Young of St. Petersburg, Fla.; Marion "Mom" Adams of Glenburn; several nieces and nephews, extended family and many friends. Bev will be missed by his beloved companion, Cooper. He was predeceased by his parents; and brothers, Charles Young and Ronald Adams. The family expresses their sincere thanks to Bev’s "other family," Peter and Janet Hughes, and the employees of Hughes Bros. Their love and support during this difficult time is appreciated beyond measure and will never be forgotten.
A service of remembrance will be held to honor Bev’s life 1-3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, in the fellowship room at Charleston Pentecostal Church, Route 43, Charleston.
