BANGOR – James S. Percival Jr., 67, passed away Sept. 16, 2011, at a local facility after a long fight with cancer. Jim was born Sept. 12, 1944, in Buffalo, N.Y., to James S. Percival Sr. and Rosela (Dio) Percival, both of Buffalo, N.Y.
Jim attended schools in Buffalo, N.Y., and San Francisco, joining the Army at 17. He initially served in the Armor Division, but transferred to finance services, where he worked until retirement. He served his country proudly in Vietnam. He was also stationed overseas in Korea, Turkey and Germany. After retiring from the military he worked in civil service at the Reenlistment Center at Fort Sill, Okla.
Jim is survived by his wife, Kathy; daughter, Beth; her husband, Richard; son, Jaime; daughter, Katie; grandson, Ryan James "R.J."; sisters, Kathy and Cecelia; twin brothers, Alan and Bart; and cousin, Amanda Percival Cushman. Jim was predeceased by his first grandchild in 2009 – our little angel, Therese Marie Florey. Jim will always be remembered for his ornery sense of humor, which could drive people absolutely crazy, but underneath there was a man who loved his family dearly. He will be missed very much.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 23, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. John’s Catholic Church, 207 York St., Bangor.
