AUGUSTA, Maine — A 35-year-old Maine man is going to prison for 10 years for sexually assaulting a 3-year-old boy in the child’s home.
Troy Tibbetts, of Pittston, pleaded guilty in June to gross sexual assault in Vassalboro between November 2008 and the end of 2009.
He was sentenced Friday in Kennebec County Superior Court. The Kennebec Journal reported that the sentence was enhanced because of a law that increases penalties for people convicted of sexually assaulting children younger than 12.
The boy’s mother said her son has nightmares, wets his bed, has problems at school and can’t be unsupervised around other children.
