Area groups plan resources fair

BELFAST — The First Church in Belfast, in conjunction with the social justice committee of the Unitarian Universalist Church and the Peace and Justice Group of Waldo County, will sponsor a Waldo County Community Resources Fair 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, at The First Church, 8 Court St.. At the day-long event, representatives from Waldo County educational institutions, social service agencies, nonprofit organizations and religious organizations will present information and offer workshops on a range of services available to the public in Waldo County. Topics may include physical and mental health care, home heating and energy efficiency services, elder care, substance abuse treatment, domestic violence prevention, services for the homeless, veterans services, childcare, youth activities, hospice care, food assistance opportunities and more.

The event will be free and open to the public. Participating agencies will offer informational tables and-or workshops to educate the public about the services they provide and to solicit contributions to their organizations.
