Parents divided on seeing Casey Anthony again

The Associated Press

ORLANDO, Fla. — The father of Casey Anthony said that he doesn’t believe it’s possible to reconnect with his acquitted daughter and that she should be held responsible for his 2-year-old granddaughter’s death.

George Anthony told “Dr. Phil” host Phil McGraw in an interview that aired on Monday that after being accused by his daughter’s lawyers during her murder trial of molesting her, he doesn’t think a relationship is in the offing. He also said that he feels he was “played” by his daughter’s lawyers over the past three years of the case.

“I do love my daughter, I don’t like what she’s done to this family,” George Anthony said.

Cindy Anthony, however, said she hopes the relationship between mother and daughter can be mended and that she feels her daughter should have been acquitted.

She also told McGraw that her daughter’s lead defense attorney, Jose Baez, invited her to his office for a private meeting shortly before the trial began because “he said that Casey wanted me to know how Caylee died.”

The girl was the focus of a wide-ranging search after her disappearance in June 2008. Casey Anthony told police that a fictitious babysitter had kidnapped the child. The 25-year-old told the same story to her family until the child’s skeletal remains were found in the woods in December 2008 not far from the Anthony family home.

Stephen Colbert to meet Radiohead in hour-long episode

NEW YORK — Stephen Colbert meeting Radiohead is such a special occasion, a regular episode of “The Colbert Report” wasn’t sufficient.

The Comedy Central show will air its first hour-long episode Sept. 26, when Colbert sits down with the British rock group.

Radiohead will perform four songs, featuring material off its most recent album, “The King of Limbs,” as well as the recently debuted and unreleased track, “The Daily Mail.” An additional song will also be performed for the online version of “The Colbert Report.”

Colbert said in a statement: “I look forward to meeting the Radioheads and leveraging their anti-corporate indie cred to raise brand awareness for my sponsors.”

Colbert lost at the Emmys on Sunday night to “The Daily Show With Jon Stewart.”

Jon Cryer receives star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

LOS ANGELES — “Two and a Half Men” star Jon Cryer on Monday received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and thanked former co-star Charlie Sheen and the show’s co-creators for intervening during last season when troubles arose.

Cryer, 46, was honored with the 2,449th star on the infamous walkway. Among those who attended were “Two and a Half” creator Chuck Lorre and co-stars Ashton Kutcher and Angus T. Jones.

Kutcher has replaced Sheen on TV’s top-rated comedy after Lorre and the Warner Bros. studio feuded with their erratic, hard-partying star. They fired Sheen last March, cutting the series short. Sheen, however had well wishes for his former show on Sunday during the Emmys.
