BANGOR, Maine — The BDN is pleased to announce several changes to our online presence that we think will make your experience much better.
Over the past few weeks we’ve rolled out apps for the iPad, the iPhone and Android phones. All three apps, which are free, provide news from all over the state in a quick and easy-to-use format. Our iPad app features photos from our photographers and some of the larger stories the BDN has published in the past few weeks in addition to the full range of news.
We also have been working on ways to deliver the content that matters to you. While we strive to deliver statewide stories, most people want to know what’s going on in their area. With your permission, we’ll now deliver content and weather from your region on our homepage.
If you’re using a newer browser, you might notice a message asking you to share your location with us. Click “allow” and you will see your local news on the homepage and your local weather in the top right corner of every page. If not, you always can set your location manually using the box above the weather.
We’re rolling out some of these features today to people using Safari and Chrome browsers. In the next few days, we hope to give everyone access.
We’ve also made it easier to share your news and events. To share your local stories, create an account and look for the “Submit” button in our top navigation bar. Press releases still can be filed through the “Send us your news” button at the top of the site.
Thank you for helping to make the BDN Maine’s largest online news source. We’re eager to hear your thoughts on the changes. Please feel free to leave your comments below or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org or our online editor, William P. Davis, at email@example.com.
