PORTLAND, Maine — America’s getting 42 new citizens, thanks to a citizenship ceremony in Maine.

The immigrants will be sworn in as new U.S. citizens Friday in a ceremony at U.S. District Court in Portland.

Following the ceremony, each will get an American flag from the Daughters of the American Revolution and a copy of the Mayflower Compact from the Maine Chapter of the Mayflower Society.

The League of Women Voters of the Greater Portland Area will distribute voter registration cards.
