WHITEFIELD, Maine — A Whitefield man is behind bars Friday afternoon after he allegedly entered a neighbor’s home and threatened the husband and wife with a shotgun, police said.
Peter Poland, 39, is facing a charge of criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, according to a press release sent out by Maine State Police spokesman Stephen McCausland.
The incident started early Friday when Poland entered his neighbor’s home, spent some time inside and then went back to his residence, where police arrested him. Investigators reportedly seized the shotgun and an assortment of knives from Poland’s 208 Mills Road residence.
Maine State Police troopers, a state police tactical team and Lincoln County sheriff’s deputies responded to the incident.
Poland also was charged with illegal trafficking in dangerous knives. He was taken to Two Bridges Jail in Wiscasset, where he remains Friday.
No shots were fired and nobody was injured in the incident.
