Nurturing fathers course offered in Bangor

BANGOR, Maine — The Penquis agency recently received a grant from the Maine Children’s Trust to to pay for a course called the Nurturing Fathers Program.

The program is designed for fathers of children up to age 5. It teaches them parenting and nurturing skills. Each class provides activities and teaches skills for supporting healthy family relationships and child development.

Children are welcome to attend with their dads, and a light dinner will be provided at each session. Participating fathers will have the opportunity to spend time with other fathers and benefit from focused time with their own child. Classes are free, and a stipend will be given at the completion of the program.

The course will run 13 weeks, with classes 4:30-7 p.m. Thursdays, Sept. 22-Dec. 22, at Penquis Child Development Center, 241 Davis Road. To obtain information and to register, call Wendy Pace at 973-3674 or email wpace@penquis.org.
