FARMINGTON, Maine — A man working on the construction project at Mt. Blue High School in Farmington suffered minor injuries when steel beams came crashing down Tuesday afternoon.

The man, whose name has not been released, was working in the high school’s gymnasium when he fell from a scissor lift, according to a Morning Sentinel report.

A giant support structure being built in the gym collapsed, causing the man to fall from the lift. He was working on a series of steel support trusses that will become the roof of the building.

Work on the gym is part of a multi-phase project that involves building a new educational complex at the school. Construction delays postponed the first day of school this fall.

Classes were expected to resume on Thursday.
