Antiques appraisal offered Friday in Brewer

Updated:

BREWER, Maine — The Brewer Historical Society and the Clewley Museum will host an antiques appraisal 2-6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, at First United Methodist Church, 40 South Main St.

Appraisers Kaja Veilleux and John Bottero will provide immediate appraisals in the Thomaston Place Auction Galleries’ Mobile Appraisal Laboratory at the church.

The suggested donation is $10 for one item, $25 for three items, with all proceeds supporting the preservation of the Clewley Museum’s historic collection of memorabilia and artifacts.

Those who join Brewer Historical Society will receive a special new member rate of three items appraised for $20.

The appraisal laboratory is a 36-foot motor coach equipped with state-of-the-art evaluation tools and reference materials, Veilleux said.

If items are too large to be taken to the coach, detailed photographs can be used to determine their approximate value. There are no appointments, and each person will have a chance to meet with an appraiser on a first-come, first-served basis.
