Bangor Ballet announces auditions


BANGOR, Maine — Bangor Ballet will hold auditions for intermediate- to advanced-level dancers Sept. 18 and 25. Auditions for intermediate dancers (girls bring pointe shoes) will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, and for advanced dancers at 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, at Thomas School of Dance.

Artistic director Ivy Forrest will cast part of the spring production of “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,” excerpts of which will be performed at the Jan. 7 Bangor Ballet benefit at the Gracie Theatre at Husson University. The full-length ballet will be performed Sunday, April 1 with musicians from the Bangor Symphony Orchestra conducted by artistic director Lucas Richman.

Intermediate dancers cast in the schoolyard scene will rehearse 4:30-5:30 p.m. Saturdays beginning Sept. 24 at Thomas School of Dance. Advanced dancers cast will have a first rehearsal with a visiting Portland Ballet member Sunday, Nov. 6. Rehearsal schedule will be set after casting is complete.
