WESTBROOK, Maine — Police say a burglar was arrested Tuesday while still inside a Main Street home, thanks to an alert neighbor.

Kasey R. Crissinger, 21, of South Portland was charged with burglary, theft by unauthorized taking and criminal mischief, according to Westbrook police Lt. Michael Nugent.

Police arrived while Crissinger was still in the house and got him to come outside, where he was arrested, Nugent told the Bangor Daily News.

“He was interrupted, but things in the house had been gone through,” Nugent said.

Crissinger also was charged with theft by unauthorized taking in connection with a shoplifting complaint at the Hannaford Supermarket.

One of the officers called to the scene had been involved with the case at the supermarket and recognized Crissinger from the security footage.

“Lo and behold, there was our guy,” Nugent said.

Crissinger is being held at Cumberland County Jail. His bail has been set at $10,000 cash.
