DOVER-FOXCROFT, Maine — The Piscataquis County commissioners will hold a public hearing at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 20 at the Abbot Town Hall to discuss the proposed closing of the access road to Squaw Mountain to winter maintenance.
At a March public hearing, Greenville-area residents encouraged the commissioners to keep the road open even though the privately owned ski resort was not open at all last winter. There was some hope that the facility would reopen.
Commissioner Tom Lizotte said at that hearing that the county would plow the road only if it’s operated as a ski area.
