BANGOR, Maine — A 33-year-old Hampden man pedaling out Stillwater Avenue on his bicycle Monday night collided with an SUV and was seriously injured, Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said Tuesday morning.

The name of the injured man, who suffered facial injuries and was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center, was not released Tuesday morning and his condition was not available, the sergeant said.

“He was wearing a helmet,” Edwards said.

The crash occurred at around 7:35 p.m. at the junction of Stillwater Avenue and Fern Street.

The white 2000 Ford SUV was driven by a 21-year-old Bangor man who had a 31-year-old female passenger. Neither was injured in the crash, Edwards said.

The SUV “tried to turn left onto Fern when the two collided,” the sergeant said.
