BANGOR, Maine — An intoxicated Massachusetts man who was downtown yelling at people driving by Monday night was arrested after continuing to swear when warned to stop, Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said Tuesday.
Shane Sweet, 27, whose hometown was not listed, was near Paddy Murphy’s yelling at cars at around 9:10 p.m. when police arrived, the sergeant said.
Police offered to call him a cab, but Sweet refused and began swearing and then asked the officer for a ride. When he declined, Sweet started swearing profusely and was warned repeatedly to stop. He seemed to calm down but as he walked away Sweet apparently couldn’t help himself and turned, “pointed and yelled, ‘[expletive] the police,’” Edwards said.
He was arrested for disorderly conduct and got a ride to Penobscot County Jail. He remained in jail at noon Tuesday, a jail official said. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)
