UMaine-Augusta called military friendly

AUGUSTA, Maine — The University of Maine at Augusta is once again being called a military friendly school.

It’s the second year in a row that the campus has won that distinction from GI Jobs Magazine. The 2012 Military Friendly Schools designation places UMA in the top 20 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools doing the most to embrace America’s veterans as students.

UMA officials are pleased with the designation. Dean of Enrollment Services Jonathan Henry, who co-chairs UMA’s Military and Veteran Affairs Task Force, says that since its founding, UMA has strived to meet the needs of veterans, and has even strengthened that commitment in recent years.

The Military Friendly Schools list was compiled through a survey of more than 8,000 schools nationwide.
