Adult Education classes begin Sept. 19

ROCKPORT, Maine — With 64 classes starting the week of Sept. 19 it’s going to be a busy fall in Five Towns Adult Ed. While many classes have filled there is still time to sign up.

Skills classes for workplace include Computer for the Very Beginner, Typing and Keyboarding, and Mac classes Mac Basics and iPhoto, plus nine free classes for job hunters. More advanced computer program classes also are offered including Web Design, Excel and Photoshop.

Students planning to attend college may want to try the new Math Boot Camp, chemistry, biology and many classes to improve writing, including Reading-Writing Lab, Grammar for Your Own Good, and poetry and screenwriting workshops.

Small-business owners may be interested in Community Public Relations for Small Businesses.

Get a great workout in the Hooping class, or relaxing fitness with Tai Chi, Qigong, Dancemeditation or yoga classes.

Gardeners can learn a low-maintenance ecological way to improve their yards in the permaculture class, how to grow food in winter in hoop tunnels or how to grow vegetables no matter how small the space, even if it’s just pots, in Food Gardens in Small Spaces class. Learn how to preserve the summer’s bounty in Home Canning, Preserving Apples

and Preserving Food by Dehydration classes.

Have fun and improve yourself with Spanish, Wood Carving the Common Loon, Geology, Books and Conversation, Digital Photography, Fly Tying or one of many art classes.

The great writers series will feature local authors who have been published in many ways. The series will begin with best-selling cookbook author Elinor Klivans on Thursday, Sept. 22.

Five Town CSD also offers more than 30 daytime classes at the Teen Center in downtown Camden.
