NEWPORT, Maine — Two area males were arrested for stealing four all-terrain vehicles and a dirt bike last week, police said Monday.

Brian Floyd, 20, of Newport and a 15-year-old juvenile from Dixmont, who was not identified because of his age, were arrested at different times Sunday.

The owner of property on Barrows Point Road discovered his garage had been broken into on Sunday after he went to mow the lawn. The break-in is estimated to have happened on Wednesday, according to the Newport Police Department.

Floyd was apprehended on the stolen dirt bike Sunday afternoon and was charged with burglary, felony theft and violating condition of release. He was still at the Penobscot County Jail in Bangor on Monday afternoon.

The 15-year-old was caught driving one of the stolen ATVs Sunday night and was charged with receiving stolen property, a Class C felony because of the value.

Three of the vehicles were recovered in Palmyra, one in Detroit and the last one was picked up Monday in Dixmont.

A friend of a family living in a Carter Avenue home discovered a male and a female in the house on Sept. 5, police said Monday.

When the friend came to store his boat in the home, the two fled from the scene.

Jeremy Weymouth, 21, and Kaylee Lynch, 19, both of Newport, were summoned for burglary on Friday.

Newport police say they stole antiques and sold them to a local antiques dealer, from whom the property was recovered. Weymouth and Lynch were not arrested.
