LITCHFIELD, Maine — One of Maine’s smaller agricultural fairs, the Litchfield Fair, winds up this weekend.

The fair’s contests, exhibits and entertainment continue Saturday and come to a close Sunday. The fair goes on this year without one of its long-time directors, Muriel Bonin, who died days before its opening at age 82. It’s the first year since 1954 the annual fair has taken place without Bonin’s services.

A fair that has grown into one of Maine’s largest, the Common Ground Country Fair in Unity, will be held Sept. 23-25. The Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association will emphasize the need for political, economic and environmental action on global climate change at this year’s Common Ground fair.
