ORONO, Maine — Someone driving south on Interstate 95 called police last week to report a driver following too closely and that driver later was charged with operating under the influence of drugs, said Trooper Tucker Bonnevie of the Maine State Police.

Bonnevie pulled over Bethany Kittrick, 21, of Millinocket around 8 p.m. Friday after she left the highway at Stillwater Avenue, he said.

“She was acting fidgety and I gave her a field sobriety test and she did poorly,” the trooper said.

Kittrick had a crushed white powder that tested positive for a diverted prescription drug and drug paraphernalia in her possession. She was taken to the Old Town Police Department, where a drug recognition expert did additional tests. She then was arrested and charged with operating under the influence, Tucker said.

Kittrick also was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of scheduled drugs. She was taken to Penobscot County Jail and later released, a jail official said. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)
