Dropkick Murphys show free for emergency personnel, members of military

BANGOR, Maine — First responders and U.S. military personnel will get a big “thank you” from the Celtic punk-rock band Dropkick Murphys on Saturday.

They will be admitted free to the group’s Shamrock-N-Roll Festival.

In observance of the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, the Dropkick Murphys and Waterfront Concerts officials are offering free admission to any member of the armed services, police officers, firefighters and emergency medical technicians. The show starts at the Waterfront Pavilion at 1 p.m. and features 20 local bands and an appearance by Micky Ward, who appeared in the Oscar-nominated film “The Fighter.”

All military members or emergency personnel have to do is present a valid ID at the box office to get into the show free.

Both Railroad Street and Front Street will be closed Saturday from 6 a.m. through the rest of the day.

General parking is available in the Pickering Square Parking Garage, Bass Park and in various parking lots and on-street parking areas in the downtown area.
