UMaine field hockey rolls over Dartmouth

ORONO — Zoe Adkins scored two goals and assisted on a third to power the University of Maine to its fourth straight field hockey victory, a 7-3 decision over Dartmouth College on Wednesday.

Stephanie Gardiner scored two unassisted goals for the Black Bears (4-1), while Holly Stewart posted a goal and an assist. Courtney Glynn and Molly Arute notched one goal each.

Brittany Fleck made three saves on six shots for the Bears, who scored three goals 1:52 apart in the first 9 minutes, 34 seconds to take charge.

Kelly Hood led Dartmouth (2-1) with a goal and an assist, while Ali Savage and Meghan Everett added a goal each.

Meagan Vakiener made five saves on 12 shots.

Men’s Soccer


At Unity, Nathan Dant scored six goals to propel the Rams to their first victory of the season.

Richard Lee scored twice for 1-2 Unity College, which received four saves on 20 shots from Ian Sypek.

Matthew Atwood, Aaron Vienneau and Scott Hatch notched a goal apiece for 0-1 Eastern Maine Community College of Bangor. Erik Peterson made eight saves on 16 shots.


At Portland, Steven Contestabile scored two goals to power the Nor’easters to victory over the Huskies.

Kiel Hiller provided a goal and an assist, while Riley Goodrich scored once for 1-3 University of New England of Biddeford. Aidan McParland and Jon Planer combined to made three saves on five shots.

Alex Charette made six saves on 16 shots for 0-3 University of Southern Maine.

Women’s Soccer


At Bangor, Michalle Wagner and Kristy Manuel converted two goals each to lead Unity College to victory.

Ashleigh Munton made six saves on 11 shots for the 2-1 Rams.

Dani Ross came up with five saves on 22 shots for 0-1 Eastern Maine Community College. printed on October 21, 2016
