Brewer police investigating report of unprovoked assault


BREWER, Maine — Police are investigating a random assault that took place at 8 p.m. Tuesday, according to a press release.

The assault reportedly took place at the intersection of Washington Street, Broadlawn Drive and Capri Street.

The victim, a local woman who was not injured, said she was approached and assaulted by an unidentified man who she had seen behind her just before the attack.

The man is believed to be 25 to 30 years old, 6 feet tall and weighing 180 pounds. He was wearing red shorts, a white T-shirt, white sneakers and is described as having short, light-colored hair.

The woman was able to break free after a short struggle and ran down Broadlawn Drive towards North Main Street, according to the release.
