SHELBURNE, Vt. — The chief curator for a Maine art museum is going to become the next director of Vermont’s Shelburne Museum.

Thomas Denenberg is currently the deputy director and chief curator of the Portland Museum of Art.

Denenberg will succeed Stephan Jost, who left the Shelburne Museum in March to become director of the Honolulu Academy of Arts in Hawaii.

Shelburne Board Chairman James Pizzagalli says Denenberg was appointed with confidence that he will continue to further the museum’s mission by bringing world-class exhibits and innovative educational programming to Vermont.

The 44-year-old Denenberg will start at the Shelburne Museum on Nov. 1.
