CAMDEN — To marks the 10th anniversary of the 9-11 tragedy, the First Congregational Church of Camden will offer a special worship service, In Remembrance, at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, at the church. The service will feature a message offered by the Rev. Kevin Pleas, a prayer and candlelighting ceremony, and performance of a hand bell piece composed by Michael Helman, which was inspired by the events of that painful day. “Prayer for Peace” is dedicated to those who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks in New York City, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania on Sept. 11, 2001. Helman said, “My hope is that this composition may be a prayer for an end to terrorism and for peace throughout the world.”
BELFAST — All are invited to a celebration of Spirit Sunday at 10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, at the First Church in Belfast, 104 Church S. The service will honor those who lost their lives and gave their help 10 years ago on 9-11. It also will celebrate the importance of community, knowing one another’s names and sharing hope for the future.
Sunday school, which meets during the worship service will begin that day for children and youth, from nursery school through grade 12. The middle and high school Youth Group will meet after the service. Meeting twice a month, the group will explore issues of living as a Christian in the modern world, and take part in a variety of activities including roller-skating, bowling, movies and films and service to the community.
