Midcoast Community Chorus opens fall registration

CAMDEN — Midcoast Community Chorus under the direction of Mimi Bornstein will begin its fall semester Monday, Sept. 12. MCC is a multigenerational nonauditioned chorus offering a supportive environment for anyone who wants to sing. It draws an average of 140 singers per semester.

The chorus performs at least two concerts each year, one of which raises awareness and funds for a local nonprofit organization addressing social injustices and community needs.

The fall semester will culminate with a Jan. 15 concert, “Simple Gifts,” at Strom Auditorium.

Choristers may register 5-6:15 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12, at John Street United Methodist Church in Camden followed by the first rehearsal. In keeping with its mission to being open to all who want to sing, registration fees are moderately priced, and some full and partial scholarships are available. The chorus welcomes singers age 12 and up.

Rehearsals will be held 6:30-8:30 a.m. Mondays, beginning Sept. 12, at John Street Methodist Church in Camden. Sean Fleming will return as MCC’s rehearsal accompanist and will perform with the chorus in the January concert.

Registration also is open for Midcoast Community Children’s Chorus. It welcomes young singers age 7 to 12 with rehearsals starting Wednesday, Sept. 21.
