Brewer, Foxcroft, John Bapst record wins

BREWER — Carly Seymour scored off an assist from Lindsay Houp with 20:54 left in the second half, giving the Witches the only goal they would need en route to a 2-0 high school field hockey victory over the Cony Rams Friday.

Deaven Smith scored an unassisted goal five minutes later for 1-0 Brewer. Casey White made seven saves on seven shots.

Kevie Rodrigue made four saves on six shots for 0-1 Cony of Augusta.

JV: Brewer 2, Cony 0

Foxcroft 2, Central 1

At Corinth, Gabby Henderson and Tia Tondreau recorded a goal apiece as Foxcroft defeated Central.

Fern Morrison assisted on Tondreua’s goal for the 2-0 Ponies. Sam Gould saved eight of nine shots.

Kayla Grindle scored for 1-1 Central. Bri Scofield saved nine of 13 shots.

John Bapst 8, Orono 0

At the University of Maine, Emily Tilton knocked in four goals and dished out three assists while sister Elise had two more goals and four assists as John Bapst of Bangor improved to 2-0.

Christina Long had two goals for the Crusaders, while Jessica Leslie added another goal. Dana Detour had two assists. Aubrey Stanislawski didn’t face a shot.

Jessica Miller had 18 saves on 40 shots for 0-2 Orono.

JV: Orono 1-0

Boys Soccer

MCI 3, Belfast 0

At Belfast, Slade Emery scored two goals to lead the Huskies to a season-opening victory over the Lions.

Kristopher Martinson netted the other goal for Maine Central Institute of Pittsfield. Matt Lessard made eight saves on eight shots.

Tyler Baker had five saves on eight shots for Belfast.

Ellsworth 1, Bucksport 0

At Ellsworth, Mike Curtis scored with 12:33 left in regulation to lift Ellsworth to the season-opening victory.

Thomas Sawyer saved two out of three shots for the Eagles.

Ryan Grindle came up with 15 saves on 26 shots for Bucksport.

MDI 6, GSA 0

At Bar Harbor, Nick Shaw netted four goals as Mount Desert Island beat George Stevens of Blue Hill.

Jason Carbone had a goal plus an assist while Chris Clemens added another goal for the Trojans. Steve Hanscom had three saves on four shots.

Ben Olivari saved seven of 18 shots for the Eagles.

JV: MDI 2-1

Hampden 1, Messalonskee 0

At Hampden, John Meehan scored late in the first half for the game’s only goal to lift the Broncos to a season-opening win.

Logan Poirier came up with 18 saves on 20 shots for Hampden.

Zach Sutherland and Jonah Webb combined for 15 saves on 16 shots for Messalonskee of Oakland.

JV: Hampden 5-0

Dexter 3, Foxcroft 1

At Dexter, Will Pearsall scored one goal and assisted on another, leading the Tigers to a season-opening victory.

Casey Jordan and Ryan Wilks each scored a goal for Dexter. Vinnie Malinauskas made five saves on eight shots.

Colby Bombero scored unassisted for 0-1 Foxcroft Academy. J.T. Black made five saves on 10 shots.

JV: 1-1

Greenville 3, Richmond 3

At Greenville, Nate Tribbett converted a direct kick late in the second half for Richmond as it tied Greenville in a mutual opener.

Pete Lorbeski and Sam Lorbeski added a goal apiece for the Bobcats. Tyler Harrington had six saves on 11 shots.

Henry Hersey had one goal while Tristan Richards had two for Greeville. Richards also had an assist. Corey Henderson stopped five of 11 shots.

John Bapst 11, MA Lynx 0

At Bangor, Matt Dunning knocked in four goals and assisted on another as John Bapst won the mutual opener.

Nate Green scored two more goals for the Crusaders. Phil Faulkingham also had two goals while Braden Sickles notched a goal plus an assist. Josiah Simko and Ricky Jones contributed goals. Adam Strang had three saves on five shots.

Christian Soucy and Austin Smith combined for 11 saves on 34 shots for the Lynx of Lincoln.

JV: Bapst 7-0

Morse 5, Nokomis 0

At Newport, Michael Alvarez knocked in three goals as Morse of Bath defeated Nokomis in a mutual opener.

Cody Snyder added two goals for Morse. Grady Madden and Dwayne Tardiff had 15 saves on 16 shots between them.

Thomas Batchelder saved 12 of 16 shots for Nokomis.

JV: Morse 2-0

Penquis 4, Central 0

At Corinth, Tyler Brzozowski scored the first goal of the game and assisted on 2 more to pace Penquis, Jason Durant, Isaiah Bess and Colton Larrabee each scored a goal and Trevor Lyford made 8 saves on 8 shots in net for the 1-0 Patriots from Milo.

Cody Caruso faced 17 shots and made 17 saves for the 0-1 Red Devils.

Girls Soccer

MCI 8, Belfast 0

At Belfast, Paula Arias and Victoria Cunningham each had three goals to lift MCI of Pittsfield past Belfast in a mutual opener.

Hannah Embry netted the other two goals for the 1-0 Huskies. Alana Oliver had two saves on two shots.

East Grand 5, Shead 3

At Eastport, Shawna Beaudoin recorded three goals as the Vikings of Danforth claimed the mutual season opener.

Lindsay Morse contributed two goals for East Grand.

Jenny Cushing scored all three goals for Shead.

Easton 8, Wisdom 0

At St. Agatha, Carla Halvorson netted two goals to help Easton improve to 5-2.

Mariah Cyr, Mikaela Hathaway, Megan Frank, Samantha Buck, Cassandra Buck and Kennedy Young added a goal apiece for the Bears. Kaitlin Monroe saved all seven shots.

Taylor Hobbs stopped 14 of 23 shots for 1-5-1 Wisdom
