BANGOR – Warren P. Young Jr., 87, passed away Sept. 1, 2011, at a Bangor hospital. He was born April 23, 1924, in Bangor, the son of Warren P. Young Sr. and Margaret (Harrington) Young Tuck.
Warren was a U.S. Navy veteran and served during World War II. He was past commander of Whitcomb-Baker Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4633, Hampden, and past state commander of the VFW. Warren was past master of Mystic Masonic Lodge No. 65 AF & AM, Hampden. He was the owner of Young’s Canvas Shop, Hampden, for many years. Warren was proud of having built a miniature replica of the Bangor Stand Pipe, The Queen, with his two brothers, which is displayed in the lobby of Bangor International Airport, a project which Warren and his two brothers received a proclamation and a Key to the City of Bangor.
He is survived by a daughter, Deborah Maggard and her husband, Steven; son, Dale; stepsons, Steven and Brenda Murray, Edward Murray and his wife, Marie, and Timothy Murray; brothers, Charles "Bill" Tuck and his wife, Ethel, and Richard Tuck and his wife, Lorraine; a sister, Grace Parker and her husband, Gilman; brother-in-law, Melvin Coffin; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Irene Bertrand Murray Young; two sisters, Gloria Spenser and Jane Coffin; by a stepson, Michael Murray; and stepdaughter, Denise Dunning.
At Warren’s request, private interment will be at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Augusta. Arrangements entrusted to Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden.
