CARIBOU, Maine — A special Mass to honor first responders in Maine and New Brunswick will be celebrated at 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 34 Vaughn St.
Bishop Richard J. Malone, head of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland, will bestow his blessing upon those who contribute to public health and safety in Maine and western New Brunswick.
Bishop Claude Champagne of Edmundston, New Brunswick, will concelebrate the annual Blue Mass, according to a press release issued Thursday by the Portland Diocese.
“This Mass is to thank and pay tribute to those in our communities who serve us every day and often in dangerous situations,” Malone said.
Members of public safety agencies have been invited to attend the Mass in uniform for a procession into the church. Color guards will be on hand and vehicles representing the departments will be on display. Bagpipers will perform outside the church before and after Mass.
